The situation in Ukraine has seen an escalation of the already prevalent cyber threats, so this month’s newsletter focuses on cyber security.
Take the advice
The NCSC was launched by the UK government in 2016 to provide advice and practical guidance on cyber security for both home and office. It sends out regular updates such as the Weekly Threat Report as well as ad hoc alerts and guidance. From phishing scams related to Ukraine “fundraising” to Denial of Service attack guidance, the topics covered are varied, however all with the same aim of avoiding cyber attacks and scams as much as possible. It’s well worthwhile signing up to their distribution list and if you haven’t yet done so, check out this link to the NCSC subscription centre to make sure you stay informed.
Global threat monitoring
Our spam filter provider, Appriver (Zix), has published a live threat map displaying email attacks detected by their systems. It’s perhaps a bit sobering to see this in action but another good reminder to make sure you are protecting yourself from the hackers and keeping up to date with the latest threats. Remember the “human firewall” is just as important as any technology and it never hurts to have a refresher. For example why not take this short quiz on ransomware?
