Our previous newsletters have covered a host of topics around your IT needs, especially focusing on cyber security, equipment and business continuity. Recently, we have all seen inflationary pressures returning, increasing costs and implying that the Bank of England might well raise interest rates in the not too distant future. None of us can predict future price and economic behaviours exactly, however, we can take steps to build a more structured approach to our IT needs, helping to avoid ad hoc expenses as much as possible.
Tech-as-a-Service – TaaS
IT infrastructures are built around a combination of hardware and software and most people tend to purchase their IT equipment outright. This not only requires an outlay of cash upfront (potentially substantial) but also can lead to older equipment staying in use longer than is ideal – meaning you can miss out on technology developments. TaaS can provide a simple way to roll all your IT needs into one flexible solution, helping you to budget better and manage cashflow by spreading the cost whilst providing a secure and environmentally responsible method to recycle your old equipment. TPM Security
If you have been thinking about upgrading to Windows 11, you will have encountered “TPM” or “Trusted Platform Module” if you hadn’t before. TPM chips are there to provide security and whilst they aren’t new, Windows 11 is (ideally) requiring TPM 2.0. This PCMag article provides some more detailed explanations but if you are keen to know if your existing PC is Windows 11 ready or have any other questions, do get in touch – 020 8078 0810 or [email protected]
Open Redirect Phishing
Our regular readers will be well aware of the huge increase in hacking attacks over the pandemic triggered by WFH. Sadly, even though many are now back in the office, there’s no let up in these attacks and Microsoft has been warning about a phishing campaign that uses open redirector links that look safe but will send you to malicious domains and even employing Google reCAPTCHA. If in any doubt, don’t click! If you would like us to undertake a cyber security audit for you, do get in touch – 020 8078 0810 or [email protected]
