You will probably have seen the recent disruption at several airports in Europe resulting in cancellations and delays. As this BBC article reports, the EU’s cyber security agency has confirmed that malware was used to disable automatic check-in systems. Whilst it’s encouraging to see that several airlines have used manual workarounds or back up systems to get back up and running, the attack has had a lasting impact with services not yet fully back to normal. In our ever more technology dependent lives, this story seems like a good reminder to us all of the importance of good cyber hygiene and business continuity plans – you can’t stop all the attacks but being ready to deal with one is vital.
